The JHU Wet Lab is located at our Montgomery County Campus (MCC) – in the heart of the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center. Shady Grove was the first business park in the United States to be zoned exclusively for the biotechnology and life sciences industries. Today, it is the nucleus of the country’s third largest biotech cluster, with more than 300 private companies and 45,000 professionals employed in the public and private sectors. The 300-acre park houses healthcare facilities, research and educational centers, R & D facilities, laboratories and a business incubator.

The Shady Grove Life Sciences Center is home to some of the world’s biotech leaders including: EntreMed, Invitrogen, Otsuka America Pharmaceuticals, Virion Systems, The J. Craig Venter Institute, , BioReliance, Vanda Pharmaceuticals, TissueGene, Johns Hopkins University’s Advanced Biotechnology Studies Program (ABS),Johns Hopkins University Microscopy Center the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute (UMBI) Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology (CARB), Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, and the Maryland Technology Development Center. And within a few miles you can find Human Genome Sciences, Tetracore, Qiagen,Medimmune Supernus Pharmaceuticals, and others.
